Oh, cherries jubilee! Love them or hate them, it’s hard to find someone who doesn’t know this classic dessert. It’s a show-stopper of a dessert and is sure to impress your friends and family with the flare of brandy lighting off the cherries. Note: dark sweet cherries are called for in this recipe, not sour cherries.

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp Orange Juice
  • 1 Teaspoons Cornstarch
  • ¼ Cup Sugar
  • 2 Tbsp Cold Water
  • 1 Pound Dark Cherries
  • 1 Cup Vanilla Ice Cream
  • ⅓ Teaspoon Orange Zest
  • 1 Tbsp Brandy
  • ⅙ Teaspoon Cherry Extract

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1

Take a medium saucepan and add the cornstarch and sugar and whisk thoroughly for a couple of minutes.

Step 2

Mix orange juice with water and add to the pot.

Step 3

Turn on the heat and whisk on high heat without stopping until it thickens.

Step 4

Wash the cherries and remove the pips.

Step 5

Add orange zest and cherries to the pan and stir for 2 minutes.

Step 6

Reduce the heat and simmer for 12 minutes.

Step 7

Add the cherry extract and turn off the heat.

Step 8

It’s time to add Brandy and light it up.

Step 9

Place the ice cream on plates for the guests and add the cooked cherries.
