A simple fried dough recipe that does not need yeast and is ready in less than half an hour. These are fluffy and light, with the maple syrup soaking into the fried dough, giving each one a uniquely moist texture. Golden brown outside and cloud-like inside, this fried dough recipe has a crunchy exterior and tender crumb, perfect for passing around at breakfast or brunch.
Take a medium bowl to mix the ingredients. Sift flour into it, then add salt, sugar and baking powder.
The cold butter is mixed with the dry mixture, for convenience you can use a blender.
Now heat the water to room temperature and add to the bowl, knead the resulting dough thoroughly.
Take a lid and close the bowl for about 20 minutes.
Now it’s time to make eight small tortillas. Place them on a cutting board and cover with a towel.
Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat.
Fry on one side, then the other side until crispy.
Place the finished slices on a plate and sprinkle with powdered sugar and cinnamon and drizzle with maple syrup.
